Article Marketing- How can it make my online business expand?
Article marketing is one of the most legitimate, ethical methods of getting traffic to your website and best of all, it is free. Achieving results using article marketing is not a simple task. It is important to have original articles written with quality content. The articles are then distributed to high traffic distribution sites and niche publishers that will have a highly relevant visitor base. The visitors will hopefully click through to your site by finding your URL in the authors information box posted with the article.
If you work at it and continue adding articles consistently, you will eventually receive a sizeable amount of free traffic. One of the biggest reasons that article marketing works is because it portrays your business as an expert in the field. Another reason article marketing works is because it is designed to spread the word. Marketing articles are often hosted on distribution sites that allow others to reprint the article, as long as thier "resource box" the sales pitch and company information located at the end of the article is left intact. Marketing articles can be short and may be about any topic related to your industry.
For instance, if you are an ecommerce site specializing in airsoft guns, you might write an article about the different kinds of guns you carry, such as the classic army or sniper rifles. Many online article marketers enjoy the low cost of this advertising venue, thus have written 100s and some 1,000s of articles. These prolific article authors also enjoy the abundant backlinks and when the aritlces are sent out RSS (real simple syndication) this only multiplies the exposure and number of backlinks. Therefore writing and distributing articles that contain a link to a business owner's website within the 'bio box' should result in more links back to that website.
You probably know that a well-written article distributed to the most influential sites on the web will get you a lot of attention and drive visitors to your site. If you don't have the time, experience or motivation to do article marketing yourself you need a company with wide article marketing experience. The best way is to either create or have a professional writer create an article for you that will focus on a topic so it emphasizes the correct keywords. Your article should be interesting, readable with a catchy title, and it should be search engine friendly.
Article marketing is tremendously effective because your articles in our article directory get a link back to your web site from Article Cache and from every web site, newsletter or ezine that publishes your content online. Article marketing is a critical part of any successful internet business plan. Article marketing is most probably the most effective link building strategy in existence. If article marketing is done properly, your voice, your opinions and your expertise, through the widespread of the articles that you have written will be able to go right across the Internet by being passed on and on.

Article Directories Aren't Just for Link Bait
Now, it's very true that articles are a great way of getting one-way links to your site from websites with excellent page rank. This is a good way of improving the number of links coming into your site, improving your overall PageRank in Google and of climbing in the search rankings. As a result, this is a great way of improving your site's standing in the search engines as a whole.
But, using articles as part of your overall internet strategy is, and should be, much more than that...
The truth is that a large number of those using articles for link-baiting purposes forget one very important thing about articles... people actually read them! Indeed, most article directories keep running because people come to read the articles and then click on the ads next to them. If people didn't actually read the articles, or want to find out about the information provided in the articles, then the system simply wouldn't work.
This is a key point that so many article publishers completely ignore. If people read your articles and the articles are good then they will follow your links! You're not just publishing articles as link bait for the search engines, you're also motivating people to click on your links within the articles themselves... And that can make a huge difference to your business.
This year, as every year, myself and a group of colleagues who all have websites (we all get over 250 000 visitors per month) got together to chew the fat over the internet business in its broader sense. One of the things we always end-up doing is looking at our statistics and discussing how important the search engines really are to our strategies.
Being fairly well versed in SEO we typically use the 75:25 rule in working on our sites. 25% of our time is spent building new content and 75% of our time is spent working on SEO and link-building. We all use article marketing in its various forms.
When we pooled all our data together it emerged that, on average, 52% of our traffic was coming from the search engines, but 48% of all our traffic was coming from 'other sources'. These sources included blog posts, forum and blog comments and directory listings. But the whopping majority of the traffic (39%) was coming from people directly following links in various articles we'd written and submitted. For comparison, direct search traffic from Google came out at 45% of the total.
As you can see article traffic wasn't lagging far behind Google traffic in terms of our overall traffic sources. Now these statistics are quite amazing...
If you can get almost as many direct referral visitors from your article submissions as you can get from Google searches, why is everyone so focussed on Google rankings? The answer, probably, is because the 'gurus' are telling everyone to be focussed on Google. After all, selling info products on how to climb to the top of Google's organic searches is how they make their money.
But, and here's the kicker, writing and submitting articles gives you a double whammy... Not only are you getting excellent back-links to your site (where you control the anchor text) but you are also submitting authoritative content that will get you known as an expert in your field and will make people follow the article links back to your site. You've just killed two SEO birds with one stone!
Articles can be truly amazing for your site rankings and your traffic. Just remember that real people will be reading them and make certain that you write good articles that people will actually want to read. The better your articles are the more traffic you will get.

How To Generate A Flood of Website Traffic Using These Free Online Business Marketing Resources
Resource #1 - Wordpress:
Wordpress started life as a blogging platform, but has since developed into one of, if not the best Content Management Systems (CMS) there is. Wordpress is a collaboration of hundreds of programmers worldwide, with no one person actually owning it, which is why it's so good. However many internet marketers use it because it fully complies with what's known as Web 2.0, which in other words is the ability to interact with your visitors in such things as leaving comments, or participating in polls etc...
Wordpress can easily be enhanced by plug-ins, which can add the functionality of a professional looking contact form, advertising manager, search engine optimization program, subscription form and much, much more, with most simply requiring you to fill in a few boxes with your website information, then click OK, and the plug-in does everything it needs to automatically. And, as I said previously, by using Wordpress' own hosting, it's free.
Better still, if you've ever had your own website before and decided it needed freshening up, or you simply had enough of it, then you'll remember how arduous it could be to change it all. Well with Wordpress, you just change the theme!
Resource #2 - Forum Posting:
For the major search engines to rank your website high, you need to get one-way backward links to your website. One of the best and quickest ways is to participate in forums related to your web site topic. Try to find quality forums to post your questions or comments. Look for sites with a minimum Pagerank of 3 if possible. So-called authority sites with a Google Pagerank of 5 plus are the forum sites to go for if you can. Any backlinks from these sites will add more weight!
Resource #3 - Article Writing:
Even better than forum posting is article writing. This is because articles are pretty much just what the search engines are after - fresh, relevant content that humans can use, to find answers to their questions and solutions to their problems. The more relevant content a search engine provides, the more people will use it and the more advertising revenue the search engine can generate - and you thought you were simply writing an article!
If you are able to author a document that is relevant to your chosen topic, and then publish the document with a reputable article directory, the chances are that not only will it rank in search engine results way ahead of your own website, but actually persuade the reader to click on your resource box to visit your website or sign-up for your newsletter. Not forgetting that's on top of building good links back to your web site. In most cases, article writing is totally free and is one of the best ways to market any online business.
You may think that all of this is too much hard work and why bother when you could use Pay Per Click. Well, unless your web site conforms to Google's idea of a good site, you will pay more and get listed below ad's that do conform. Publishing articles, using Wordpress will please the search engines and keep you ahead of the game. Bottom line - your PPC costs will be lower and you may well rank higher than your competition for less cost.

A Backlink is a URL Link that is Pointed Towards your Website
What's a backlink? A backlink is a URL link that is pointed towards your website and is very important to your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts. The backlinks from external sites can link to your home page or may link to internal pages within your website. Linking to internal pages is often referred to as "deep linking" and can help raise the importance of those internal pages in the eyes of the search engines.
The more backlinks you have referring to your website, the more the search engines trust your content. In the original Google algorithm, backlinks were a very important part of the equation used to determine where your site was placed on the search engine result pages (SERP's). In today's world, the algorithm is much more complicated and the value of the backlink has been diminished slightly from the original.
Google uses the backlinks that it finds on the Internet pointing to your site to calculate a value called the PageRank (PR). Every page in your site has a pagerank, even if it is 0. Pagerank is one of the many factors that are used in the Google search algorithm and it's importance has seemed to diminish over the last couple of years. We do know that even if you pagerank has become less important, backlinks themselves are still very important.
You may also hear backlinks referred to as inbound links, inward links, incoming links, or inlinks. All of these terms are synonymous with each other.
Backlinks can be used to find related websites that have linked to you, gauge your website popularity (or someone else's), and view what others may have written about the page being linked. When looking for the quantity of backlinks to your site, Yahoo is much better at reporting the real backlinks.
Google's reasoning for only showing a subset of the backlinks that it knows about for your site is to protect their search algorithm. Also remember that many times, the page that has your backlink will not show it's true PR because the page hasn't been through a Google PageRank update yet.
The long term premise behind using backlinks was that the site pointing to yours is voting for you. At one time that vote had a very significant impact. However, over time, all the search engines are becoming more sophisticated and put less weight on this backlink vote. More recently they are putting significant emphasis on the content and context of the page being linked to and linked from. Pages with little to know relevance to each other end up counting very little.
There are numerous methods for obtaining backlinks to your site. Some of those are:
1. Article distribution with resource boxes
2.. Adding meaning full comments to related forums and blogs
3.. Buying home page or site wide links - not recommended unless it is in context
4.. Link Exchanges where you trade reciprocal links or multi-way links
Hint: You want your backlinking strategy to appear natural to the search engines so you need to make sure that you are acquiring backlinks on more than just high PR web pages. There are significantly more low PR pages on the web then there are high PR pages.
The wanted result of getting all these backlinks to your site is to increase the natural search engine traffic that is directed to your site by being on the first page of the SERP's. But you should also see some traffic that comes to your sites through the backlinks themselves. So, when getting backlinks, you want to keep the reader in mind and try to make it enticing for the reader to click your link because there is something on the other end that they need.
